In the late 1990’s, I traveled to pearl farms in Asia and was immediately captivated by this precious gem that dates back to the beginning of time.
While living in Asia, I developed the technique of Chinese knotting with silk in a pearl-dealer’s kitchen. Always wanting to know more! After purchasing more raw materials, I realized that every woman deserved the opportunity own a wearable work of art! This led to my mission statement, “Every Woman Deserves a Strand of Pearls…and MORE”!!!
After repatriating, I began making necklaces for family and friends who urged me to start selling my creations. But I went a step further, I wanted to teach women about this gem! So, instead of home shows, I gave seminars to help make women more knowledgeable about their purchases.
2001 Pearl Basics was founded, when I took one of my necklaces to a prominent jewelry store to have the clasp repaired. The jeweler looked at the piece and inquired where I purchased the necklace. When I told him I made it, he commented that it looked better than the pieces he purchases for his store!
Shortly after, he gave me the use of one of his display cases and significantly marked up the price of each piece. I began performing appraisals and restringing repairs.
PB’s jewelry is for all ages: from a baby’s bracelet, body jewelry, toe rings, ankle bracelets, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and more. Making one-of-a-kind is the key. Whether making an ensemble for a wedding party or you’re looking for that special creation, it’s Pearl Basics.

Natural pearl colors range from natural pinks, peach, mauves to cream, silver to peacock. Their baroque shapes may vary from rock, potato, rice, barrel, flat, blister and many, many more. Pearl locations like Lake Biwa yields a beautifully shaped pearl!
